Successful Scale-Up of HEK 293 Cells in Suspension Culture

The mammalian cell line HEK 293 was cultured in T-flasks. After preparation of the inoculum in spinner bottles up to 3 litres, the culture was transferred to a 15 litre fermentor. The medium used was DMEM with 5% serum plus antibiotics.

After 5 days of fermentation, the cell concentration was 2.9 x 10 6 per ml.
